In January, many Iowans received a robocall with a definitive white nationalist message:
“I urge you to vote for Donald Trump because he is the one candidate who points out that we should accept immigrants who are good for America. We don’t need Muslims. We need smart, well-educated white people who will assimilate to our culture.”
“We need smart, well-educated white people who will assimilate to our culture.”
Well, last week, our friends at Media Matters broke the story that the same avowed white nationalist lawyer who set up the PAC that paid for these robocalls also donated $250 to Trump’s presidential campaign.
William Johnson is the chairman of the white nationalist political party American Third Position (A3P) and the founder of the American National Super PAC. The mission statement of A3P reads: “The American Third Position exists to represent the political interests of White Americans.” Johnson has written of American immigration, “No person shall be a citizen of the United States unless he is a non-Hispanic white of the European race. … Only citizens shall have the right and privilege to reside permanently in the United States.”
“No person shall be a citizen of the United States unless he is a non-Hispanic white of the European race.”
Although Trump stated that he “would disavow” the white nationalist robocalls to voters, he has yet to acknowledge and reject Johnson’s individual contribution.
Center for New Community calls on Trump to dump this donation and the white nationalist ideology that comes with it.
