Imagine2050 Staff • Jun 03, 2016

There Goes the Neighborhood is a weekly series from Imagine 2050 staff highlighting upcoming nativist events.

This week, anti-Muslim activists will speak in Wisconsin and Ohio, a bigoted conspiracy theorist will be honored in Washington, D.C., and an anti-immigrant spokesperson is scheduled to speak in California.

Today, June 3, anti-Muslim pastor Usama Dakdok will speak in Madison, Wisconsin. Dakdok is continuing a speaking tour of the Midwest. Last week, he spoke in Minnesota and South Dakota.

On Sunday, June 5, anti-refugee spokesperson James Simpson will speak in Broadview Heights, Ohio. Simpson’s appearance is being organized by the Cleveland chapter of anti-Muslim grassroots group ACT for America. Simpson’s virulently anti-refugee writings have been published by the anti-Muslim conspiracist think tank Center for Security Policy. He also spoke at an event in California last month sponsored by the anti-Muslim David Horowitz Freedom Center.

On Wednesday, June 8, anti-Muslim conspiracy theorist Frank Gaffney will be honored in Washington, D.C. by the hyper-Zionist Endowment for Middle East Truth. Gaffney is the founder and president of the Center for Security Policy, which has peddled bigoted conspiracy theories about supposed Muslim subversion of the United States government for years.

Finally, on Thursday, June 9, the national field director of leading anti-immigrant group Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), Susan Tully, will speak in Livermore, California. Tully will speak at a meeting of Tri-Valley Republican Women Federated. As a leading grassroots spokesperson for FAIR, Tully regularly speaks at conservative and Tea Party group meetings, including multiple events in California this year.

Additional information on these events and others can be found in the map below. The events scheduled for next week are marked with red stars.
