Ted Cruz to share stage with Robert Spencer at New Hampshire conference

Sen. Ted Cruz, who recently announced his 2016 presidential run, seems to be hitting the campaign trail and will be stopping in New Hampshire for the New England Freedom Conference scheduled for March 27 – 28.

According the event’s website, one of the featured speakers Sen. Cruz is slated to share a stage with is prolific anti-Muslim blogger and activist Robert Spencer. Spencer runs the website Jihad Watch, a project funded by the David Horowitz Freedom Center which serves as a platform for his anti-Muslim views.

If past speaking engagements are any indication, we can expect Spencer to use his allotted time to frame Islam as an inherently violent religion and stir up fears that Muslims in the U.S. are plotting to impose Shariah law on non-Muslims. Sen. Cruz has expressed similar unfounded concerns about Shariah law.

The event is being sponsored by Young America’s Foundation, a group whose stated mission is “ensuring that increasing numbers of young Americans understand and are inspired by the ideas of individual freedom, a strong national defense, free enterprise, and traditional values.”

The conference will take place at the Radisson Hotel Nashua.
