Supreme Court Hears Arguments on SB 1070

Imagine 2050 Staff • Apr 25, 2012

On Wednesday, April 25, the Supreme Court heard arguments for Arizona’s contentious anti-immigrant law, SB 1070. A decision is expected in June.  Protestors demonstrated against the law in front of the Supreme Court. Despite this, Steve King (R-IA), recalled Arizona State Senator Russell Pearce, and Kris Kobach spoke to their own nativist constituency after the hearing. Speculations abound over the outcome, but according to the New York Times, “the justices clarified early in the arguments that the case before them did not directly concern racial profiling or other rights claims.”
