Support the #Walk4Dignity from Jacksonville to Sanford

Jill Garvey • Jul 26, 2013

The Southern Movement Alliance Freedom Summer is in full swing! The Walk for Dignity (#walk4dignity) departed Jacksonville on Monday and is due to arrive in Sanford, Florida today. Once they arrive, 40 walkers from nine Southern states will hold community assemblies through Saturday. The Walk for Dignity is an urgent response from Southern community organizations to address the significance of the verdict in the Trayvon Martin trial and the sentencing of Marissa Alexander. Leaders of the movement are demanding the resignation of Angela Corey, FL State Attorney and the release of Alexander, sentenced for 20 years for protecting herself without injuring anyone.
