Sen. Jeff Sessions received the David Horowitz Freedom Center’s Daring the Odds: The Annie Taylor Award this weekend, presumably for his efforts to obstruct administrative relief for undocumented immigrants.

The anti-immigrant senator from Alabama attended the Freedom Center’s Restoration Weekend at a Florida resort Nov. 13-16, as previously reported by Right Wing Watch.

“I intend to give my absolute best effort to end and oppose and block executive unlawful amnesty by the president of the United States,” Sessions said plainly during his acceptance speech.

He added this is all part of what he calls the “battle for…right, justice, and law and [the] American peoples’ legitimate interests and expectations from their government.”

However lately, Sessions seems more invested in serving the interests of Beltway anti-immigrant groups rather than the American people, particularly workers. Sessions repeatedly has proven that he is willing to align himself with nativist policies championed by groups such as the Federation for American Immigration Reform, the Center for Immigration Studies, and NumbersUSA.

In another part of his speech, Sessions claimed what an honor it was to receive such an award from Horowitz, saying, “I’ve seen some great people receive this.”

Past recipients of the Daring the Odds award include vehement anti-Muslim blogger Pamela Geller and former Senator Russell Pearce, the co-author and lead sponsor of Arizona’s draconian anti-immigrant law SB 1070.
