On October 31, anti-Muslim “scholar” Bill Warner will speak in Orlando, Florida. The event, titled “Making the Koran Simple to Understand,” is sponsored by the Central Florida chapter of ACT! for America.
Warner heads the Tennessee-based Center for the Study of Political Islam (CSPI), and speaks across the country about Islam and the supposed threat it poses to America and Western Society. Warner and CSPI are heavily involved in anti-Muslim activism, particularly in Tennessee, most recently co-sponsoring a September 11 anniversary event and appearing at the Tennessee Eagle Forum’s annual conference earlier this month.
News of Warner’s visit to Florida comes as other ACT! for America activists in the state’s Brevard County are drafting a supplement to a textbook critics claim is slanted towards Islam. The review committee includes a conspiracy theorist who is “convinced that Muslims are trying to dominate the world.” ACT! for America and its supporters are also gearing up for another legislative battle to pass an anti-Sharia bill in next year’s legislative session after a previous effort was narrowly defeated in May.
