NumbersUSA to use Texas Earth Day Expo to say ‘no’ to immigration

Representatives from the anti-immigrant organization NumbersUSA will take part in the Texas Earth Day Expo this weekend. The event is scheduled for April 26-27 at Fair Park in Dallas. A press release issued Thursday states that NumbersUSA will primarily focus on its latest report, “Vanishing Open Spaces” and will highlight how Texas cities are among the worst in the country in terms of sprawl. The NumbersUSA report and exhibit are just the latest examples of the anti-immigrant movement’s attempts to stoke fears about overpopulation to fuel attacks on immigrants.

The press release refers to a finding that 71% of likely Texas voters said the government should “reduce immigration to slow down population growth.” The poll is from Pulse Opinion Research, an offshoot of the conservative-learning Rasmussen Reports, which serves clients including Fox News and is often held up by anti-immigrant organizations.

Other findings from the report will be on display at NumbersUSA’s interactive booth and the report’s authors will give presentations on both days at 11:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. The expo’s website states that NumbersUSA will have booth #1406 on the exhibition floor.
