We The People Rising – the group instrumental in organizing the anti-immigrant protests in Murrieta, California, over the summer – are wasting no time responding to President Obama’s announcement on immigration.
On Friday, the California-based group is planning to stage a protest at President Obama’s rally at Del Sol high school in Las Vegas where supporters are expected to cheer his new plan.
We The People Rising is coordinating the protest with the Impeach Obama Now Coalition to demand Congress do just that: Impeach the president.
“King Wannabe Obama and his court jester, Harry Reid, will celebrate his dictated Amnesty (sic) this Friday in Las Vegas,” reads a statement on the event’s webpage.
The two groups, however, seem to out-of-step with their elected officials in Congress. In fact, senior Republican leadership is urging fellow members of Congress to refrain from calling for impeachment, recognizing it could later be used against them by the Democrats. Instead, they are seeking less incendiary methods such as an omnibus package intended to defund immigration policies.
Even so, the two groups are rallying their bases to “be at the protest site at 8:30 a.m.”
Similar to the Republicans, even those within the organized anti-immigrant movement are divided on how to obstruct administrative relief.
