There Goes the Neighborhood: November 18, 2016

Imagine2050 Staff • Nov 18, 2016

There Goes the Neighborhood is a weekly series from Imagine 2050 staff highlighting upcoming nativist events.

This week, a white nationalist conference will be held in the nation’s capital and an anti-Muslim spokesperson is heading to New Jersey.

On Saturday, November 19, the white nationalist National Policy Institute (NPI) will hold its Become Who We Are 2016 conference in Washington, D.C. Undoubtedly encouraged by the recent presidential election, speakers at the event feature “some of the most important thought leaders in the Alt Right” including NPI President Richard Spencer, founder Peter Brimelow, and anti-Semite Kevin MacDonald. The conference comes days after Twitter announced it had suspended many prominent accounts affiliated with the white nationalist alt-right movement, including Spencer’s.

On Monday, November 21, Brigitte Gabriel will be the keynote speaker at a dinner hosted by a local chapter of the Friends of Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) in Parsippany, New Jersey. Gabriel is the founder and president of anti-Muslim grassroots group ACT for America. She has previously claimed that “every practicing Muslim is a radical Muslim.” Last year, Gabriel spoke at a similar FIDF dinner in Ohio. Recently, Gabriel has also given keynote addresses in Texas and California.

Additional information on these nativist events and others can be found in the map below. A red star indicates events scheduled for next week.
