There Goes the Neighborhood: February 24, 2017

Imagine2050 Staff • Feb 24, 2017

There Goes the Neighborhood is a weekly series from Imagine 2050 staff highlighting upcoming nativist events.

This week, a South Carolina conference hosts two speakers favored by anti-Muslim groups.

On Saturday, February 25, Citizens in Action will hold its Palmetto Panel conference in Clemson, SC. One of the featured speakers at the conference is Clare Lopez, vice president of research at the anti-Muslim think tank Center for Security Policy. Lopez will speak alongside South Carolina State Treasurer Curtis Loftis and Greenville County Sheriff Will Lewis.

Yesterday, Lopez was a featured speaker at the Conservative Political Action Conference. As Right Wing Watch reported, Lopez predictably espoused several conspiracy theories about the Muslim Brotherhood and Shariah Law.

John Anthony, founder of the right wing conspiracy-minded Sustainable Freedom Lab, will also be speaking at the South Carolina event. A Tennessee chapter for anti-Muslim grassroots group ACT for America hosted Anthony last month.

Additional information on these events and others can be found in the map below. A red star indicates events scheduled for next week.
