Geller, Spencer Fundraising for Another Round of Islamophobic Transit Ads

Imagine 2050 Staff • Jul 19, 2013

Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer, via their organization the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI), are yet again appealing to supporters to raise funds for an advertising campaign on urban transit systems.

In this instance, the ads will be a nearly direct duplication of ads previously pulled off of Seattle buses that featured faces of people on the FBI’s Most Wanted Terrorists list. The ads were pulled after Rep. Jim McDermott (D-WA) claimed they “encourage religious and racial profiling.” In response, Geller wrote that the FBI caved to “Sharia demand” when it voluntarily removed the ads. In the same blog post, Geller declared AFDI will “do the FBI’s job for them.” Like AFDI’s previous campaigns, these ads in Seattle are simply an effort to generate animosity and ill will towards Muslim communities.
