Geller, AFDI Resubmit Islamophobic Transit Ad for Boston-Area

Anti-Muslim activist Pamela Geller announced Monday that her organization, the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI), has submitted a newly revised version of an anti-Muslim advertisement to be featured on public transit vehicles in the greater Boston area.

The newly revised ad reads: “In any war between the civilized man and those engaged in savage acts, support the civilized man. Defeat violent jihad. Support Israel.” It is an updated version of a previous AFDI ad that was rightfully rejected by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in November after they said it was demeaning toward Boston’s Muslim community. A U.S. district judge recently ruled in favor of the MBTA’s decision to refuse the ad, saying the original was too “ambiguous.”

However, Geller and her lawyers at the American Freedom Law Center are refusing to accept defeat and have proposed the new ad in hopes the more definitive language will force the MBTA to accept it. And although the wording of the ad has been revised, its message of hate and intolerance remains very much the same.
