Yesterday morning, a statement by Dutch politician Geert Wilders was published by the anti-Muslim blog Gates of Vienna. In the statement, titled “Let Us Raise a Flag of Truth and Liberation,” Wilders proposes changing the flag of Saudi Arabia to read: “Islam is a lie, Muhammad a criminal, the Koran is poison.”
Such virulent rhetoric is no surprise coming from the Dutch Party for Freedom leader who has become one of the most prominent leaders within organized Islamophobia. Wilders’ latest proclamation comes after he spent much of the summer creating a new coalition of nationalist and far-right political parties to focus on immigration and the so-called “Islamization of Europe.”
