On September 24-26, the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy, IATP, will hold its Food + Justice = Democracy national meeting in Minneapolis, Minnesota. With its long history as one of the nation’s premiere agricultural policy and research organization, ITAP is strategically, yet boldly bringing together stakeholders in the food movement including food justice, food sovereignty and food security activists, to develop a national platform of action and change for our nation’s broken food system.
This is an opportunity to hear the voices of those too often left out or minimized; communities of color, tribal nations, immigrants, and refugees. There will be dialogue, information sharing, and learning with, and among, community activists, environmental justice leaders, workers along the food chain, policy makers and analysts, politicians, and other critical voices. The gathering is set to capture, formulate, and ultimately advance an inclusive and authentic framework for real change, moreover – real policy change – in the U.S. food system.
