Florida anti-immigrant group to protest Obama’s town hall event

Members of Floridians for Immigration Enforcement (FLIMEN) will protest President Obama’s immigration town hall event Wednesday evening at Florida International University in Miami.

In a recent post on the group’s website, FLIMEN said:

“The ‘Town Hall Forum’ is Obama’s promotion of his unconstitutional effort to thwart the will of Congress and citizens by rewarding illegal aliens with legal residency among other benefits. Please bring an anti-AMNESTY of your choosing.  Invite others.”

The post concludes with a note encouraging FLIMEN supporters to “stand against anarchy.”

FLIMEN was founded in 2004 by David Caulkett and actively lobbies legislators in the state to support policies favored by the organized anti-immigrant movement. The  group also maintains ties to the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), the anti-immigrant movement’s flagship organization. FAIR lists FLIMEN as a state contact group on its website and Caulkett also serves as FAIR’s Florida state adviser.
