Anti-Muslim pastor Terry Jones announced plans to protest outside of a Polk County, Florida Sheriff’s office where he intends to read from and then decimate a copy of the Quran.
Jones said his protest is in response to Polk County police arresting him earlier this year on the twelfth anniversary of 9/11 before he was able to burn nearly 3,000 copies of the Quran in a public park. The pastor was charged with unlawful conveyance of fuel after he disobeyed orders from law enforcement and towed a large barbecue-style grill filled with kerosene-soaked Qurans onto park grounds. Jones claims the arrest was unconstitutional.
The time and date for the protest have yet to be announced. It remains to be seen whether or not Jones will actually go through with this, or if he is simply trying to stir up controversy.
