FAIR Advisor says Africans ‘create their own human misery’

Frosty Wooldridge

John Tanton

A recent article on Imagine 2050 profiled notorious nativist Frosty Wooldridge. It was a fairly straightforward piece, primarily pointing out Wooldridge’s history of bashing immigrants and refugees, and also his affiliation with the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). FAIR’s controversial ties go far beyond Wooldridge, the group was founded by white nationalist John Tanton, who still serves on the board of advisers.

Mr. Wooldridge took issue with our article. In three separate emails he lambasted it as “libelous,” “inane,” and “untrue,” among other things. He also wrote of marching with Dr. Martin Luther King - as if attending a civil rights march somehow absolves him of his xenophobic rants. Following is another example that he shared with us:

“Somali’s [sic] plight is real and, as I said, if you feed them, they will add another 10 million starving children. That’s a biological fact. Africa at 1 billion will hit 3.1 billion in 90 years. They create their own human misery.”

In his last communication he also invited the author to contact him.

We won’t be contacting Mr. Wooldridge, we’re in the business of exposing bigots, not engaging them. Nor is it our intention to give Mr. Wooldridge a platform to further disseminate his ideas.

We merely want to ask the question once again, why is Frosty Wooldridge on the National Board of Advisers of the Federation for American Immigration Reform,  an organization that positions itself as a mainstream voice on immigration?
