Lady Liberty and the Dream Act

Glenn Hutchinson • Sep 21, 2010

Call your Senators (202.224.3121) and say, “Vote for the Dream Act!”

Why?  The time is now!  Please listen to the following message from Lady Liberty:

Do you agree with Lady Liberty?  For too long, many of our politicians have acted like “Senator Apathy.”  Now is the time for them to do something.

The Dream Act would help many undocumented youth become citizens, and the Senate is likely to vote on this important legislation this week!

There are many good reasons for supporting the Dream Act, and as reported by America’s Voice, a June 2010 poll shows that 70% of Americans support the Dream Act (60% of Republicans; 80% of Democrats).

Even though the Dream Act would not help everyone without documentation, it is a positive first step towards change.  It could help 800,000 people pursue the American Dream.

Therefore, this legislation affects the children who came here with their parents.  They have grown up here and the USA is their home.  If they graduate from high school, satisfy the background requirements of the bill, and attend college or the military, they could become citizens.

As an educator, I believe it’s important that we help these young people pursue their education and dreams.  In addition, many leaders of our military agree with the Dream Act and believe that all soldiers should have a chance at citizenship.

This is the time to speak out.  Please contact your Senators and urge them to vote for the Dream Act!

No more Senator Apathy.  Now is the time for change.
