FAIR’s Tully suggests Obama doing ‘everything to hurt us’

Susan Tully, national field director for the anti-immigrant Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), suggested recently that President Obama’s legacy will only be positive for “the Muslim world” rather than the United States.

Tully’s comments came during an hour-long January 15 interview with Minnesota-based anti-immigrant activist Ruthie Hendrycks. When Hendrycks speculated what effect another terrorist attack may have on Obama’s legacy, Tully suggested the President’s allegiances lie elsewhere:

“The truth is at this point I’m not sure if he is trying to have a great legacy with the United States or for that of the Muslim world. Because frankly, when he won’t even call a radical Muslim a radical Muslim, it makes you wonder who it is he’s supporting and who he’s rooting for,” Tully said. “Frankly, I think his legacy is not one that he could care less for what the Americans think about. He’s more interested in supporting those who are trying to hurt and undermine the United States.”

Several minutes later in the interview (near the 1:40:00 mark), Tully reiterated this point, claiming, “It makes you wonder if his intention is actually to do anything that would be helpful to us or everything to hurt us.”

In her position at FAIR, Tully regularly travels the country giving presentations on immigration policy to conservative groups. As with others who fill similar roles within the organized anti-immigrant movement, like the Center for Immigration Studies’ Stephen Steinlight, these presentations often stray from immigration matters to include conspiratorial claims and anti-Muslim sentiment often directed towards the president.
