The anti-immigrant group Californians for Population Stabilization (CAPS) responded to a segment of the Colbert Report earlier this week which criticized CAPS’s national ad which blames environmental problems on immigrants. CAPS attempted to distance itself from white nationalist John Tanton and a group that Tanton founded, the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS). In fact, CAPS has relied on CIS’s statistics for years. Leon Kolankiewicz, a CAPS advisory board member has written numerous reports for both organizations.
