In an email to supporters today, ACT! for America, the largest anti-Muslim grassroots organization operating in the U.S., urged its base to support H.R. 3314, which would “suspend the admission into the United States of refugees in order to examine the costs of providing benefits to such individuals, and for other purposes.”
The “Resettlement Accountability National Security Act of 2015″ was introduced by Rep. Brian Babin (R-TX) on July 29. Not surprisingly, Babin is one of one of the legislators scheduled to speak at ACT!’s legislative briefing during its national conference this September.
In the email, ACT! claims that over 40 refugees of Somali descent who were admitted to the U.S. via the refugee resettlement program have since fled the country to join foreign terrorist groups.
“We do not need to bring enemies into our homeland supported by our tax dollars,” the email reads. ACT! then urged its members to contact their own representatives to support Babin’s resolution.
Anti-Muslim firebrand Pamela Geller has spoken out in favor of the bill, saying the current resettlement program “opens the floodgates to Islamic supremacists and jihadists” and that Babin’s measure “should be supported by every freedom-loving American.”
The bill has also been lauded by anti-refugee activist Ann Corcoran. Corcoran is involved with ACT!’s recently launched “Refugee Resettlement Working Group,” which is aimed at attacking the rights of refugees. She is also scheduled to be one of the featured speakers at ACT!’s upcoming conference.
As the largest anti-Muslim grassroots organization in the United States, ACT! for America claims to have more than 800 chapters and 280,000 members. Its founder Brigitte Gabriel is known for her outlandish anti-Muslim rhetoric and for claiming that “any practicing Muslim is a radical Muslim.”
