After surviving September 11, 2001, Deborah Weiss has since turned to a career as a full-time anti-Muslim activist. Aside from being a lawyer, Weiss now works as a columnist and author, all of which she uses to express her anti-Muslim rhetoric.

Weiss is known for purporting and expanding on various anti-Muslim conspiracy theories, including: the “non-violent” infiltration of Muslims into various cultural institutions in the West, the idea that Muslim civil rights and advocacy organizations are actually fronts for the Muslim Brotherhood, and a concerted effort to stifle free speech in the United States in the name of Islamic blasphemy laws.

Weiss operates the blog Vigilance Now, which serves as a hub for her Islamophobic columns.

She is a staunch believer that there is a concerted effort by American Muslims and the Obama administration to stifle free speech in the United States in the name of Shariah blasphemy laws.

Following the tragic Charlie Hebdo shooting earlier this year, Weiss appeared on Judge Jeanine Pirro’s show, claiming Obama is implementing policies to censor criticism of Islam.

“Well fortunately at the time, we still have freedom of speech from a legal perspective, but certainly there is a push to self-censor and also to have censorship as a matter of policy.” she told Pirro. “And under this administration, it’s been particularly bad.”

Later in the segment, Weiss falsely claimed that Obama has implemented policies that groups like the FBI, CIA , and Department of Homeland Security “completely purge from all its training materials any mention of Islamic terrorism or Islamist ideology for fear of being Islamophobic.”

Recently, the Center for Security Policy, a far-right think tank headed by notorious anti-Muslim conspiracist Frank Gaffney, published a monograph by Weiss on this subject titled, The Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Jihad of Free Speech. The monograph is part of Gaffney’s “Civilian Jihad Reader Series.”

Definition: Civilian Jihad
The alleged non-violent and “stealthy” efforts to turn the United States into a Shariah-adherent nation.

Weiss is also convinced of this supposed “stealth jihad” campaign. For example, after the first Muslim Member of Congress Rep. Keith Ellison was sworn into office with a Qur’an, Weiss claimed, “Ellison’s insistence on using the Koran at his private ceremony must be seen in the context of the incremental Islamatization [sic] of America.”

She added: “Some Muslim extremist groups, posing as mainstream, advocate actions to desensitize citizens to their anti-freedom goals and try to silence those who oppose them.”
