On May 2, Maria Espinoza of The Remembrance Project will be the featured speaker at an event hosted by Oregonians for Immigration Reform (OFIR) in Salem, Oregon. According to OFIR’s announcement, Espinoza will speak about her efforts “to spread the word about the true and devastating cost of illegal immigration on American citizens.” The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) lists OFIR as a state level contact group on its website and has assisted OFIR’s efforts to overturn an Oregon law granting driving privileges to undocumented immigrants. Espinoza and other activists representing The Remembrance Project have attended many anti-immigrant events in the past year including The Social Contract Press Writers Workshop in September. Earlier this month, Espinoza attended FAIR’s annual Hold Their Feet to the Fire.
