The Midwest Immigrant Health Project (MIHP) is working in three Midwest states organizing immigrant workers and families to secure better health care. Health Action Councils have formes in a dozen communities, under the leadership of immigrants, to address a wide range of health concerns. Some forty congregations and parishes in twelve communities in three Midwest states, and 6,000 immigrant workers are impacted by the Project's activitites, and a Regional Health Action Council meets twice a year to address health and safety issues in participating communities. Watch this video to learn more about the history of meat-packing in the Midwest and the lives of thousands of immigrant and refugee workers. The Campaign for United America Hip Hop Project is building support within Hip-Hop to empower the community to stand united against bigotry. For generations our nation has learned to overcome our challenges and thrive because Americans of all walks of life and backgrounds chose to stand up for the values that unite us. At critical junctures throughout our history, Americans have come together to defend our nation’s historic commitment to unity, equality, and opportunity. Hip-Hop music is in a unique position to stand up to anti-immigrant threats. Through outreach and online organizing CUA Hip-Hop is building coalitions in Phoenix and Chicago to respond to anti-immigrant activities that threaten multiracial communities. |
