Winrod Sentenced To 30 Years For Abduction PDF Print E-mail

WINROD SENTENCED TO 30 YEARS FOR ABDUCTION: Christian Identity pastor Gordon Winrod was sentenced to 30 years in prison on March 19, 2001 for abducting six of his grandchildren and keeping them at his farm to indoctrinate them. Circuit Judge William Mauer followed a jury's recommendation in sentencing the Winrod to the maximum punishment. Before sentencing, Winrod insisted he was protecting the children from being abused and repeatedly referred to the court and the proceedings as "the Jewdiciary." Winrod's son Steven and daughter Carol face the same charges. Two other daughters, Quinta and Sharon, are serving prison terms in North Dakota on charges related to the abductions (Associated Press, March 19, 2001).
